TEOREMA - Fiction -

This section's main intention is to connect us with our essence, to help us look inside of ourselves, at our inner world (already discovered by some, unknown by some others), so we could find the most diverse answers and our own and honest self.

This fictions present a variety of themes, narratives, aesthetics and philosophies that reflect the abstract materials that compound our souls and that build new paths to circulate through it (just with a little bit of imagination). Films that generate the most diverse sensations and emotions, from laughter to tears, pleasure, and why nor anger.
Perhaps these theorems will be helpful to define our true identities, what we are and what wear not.

In this edition you'll find a distinctive seal in French and German productions, respectively sponsored by The French Embassy in Argentina and The Goethe Institute, that will show us how near and similar this experiences from distant locations could be for us.

Testimonies and specific matters make this section an exploration of facts and realities, with a particular point of view, enriching and diverse each time.

The ways to make documentaries have changed. And so have their contents. The new productions presented in this section try to resume, in their own audiovisual way, political and social changes, individual or in group, generated in the most different parts of the world.

The mixture and confrontations between speeches and experiences contained in this dialogue, are useful tools to think about multiplicity in the search of identity, presented in this directors' work.

Each option and suggestion is not only the evidence of their own representation of reality, but also an approximation to all this communities defending their rights within their own ones.

ARGENTINIAN PANORAMA

In this section we present the actual panorama of the national GLTB production, in fiction and documentary and short film format.

We introduce "Todas esas cosas", Paula de Luque's documentary, and exhibit Lucía Puenzo's "XXY", winner of the Gran Premio de la Semana de la Critics Week Great Prize in the 2007 edition of Cannes Film Festival. For the GLTB films made in Argentina DIVERSA is an opened window to the rest of the world, and that's why we felt that this claimed and award winning film deserved to be included even after being released in the market.

In this way we get in touch with our filmmaker's visions - materials generated in a reality that is common to all argentines (although diverse) - recognizing our own codes and forms in them, feeling closer or more distant, but never strangers.

FROM TURIN TO BUENOS AIRES  - Retrospective -

Seven titles, four fiction stories, two docu-fiction movies and one documentary in the classic version, are part of this section put together for Diversa.

All, apart for Grido by Pippo Del Bono, autobiographical film about one of the most important and controversial figures in Italian theatre, that was shown on the Italian market a few months prior to the 2007 edition of 'From Sodom to Hollywood', represent the best of Italian GLTB productions shown at the Festival in the last three editions.

Although the variety of subjects what links these films together is their authors vision : a vision inspired by the need to search clarity, to understand and to tell stories that are necessarily close to the social state of this Country that seems to have lost every certainty and that's stuck between a tradition from which it can't set free and a change that it doesn't dare to reach. The kind of change that's occurred in Spain and is the background to Ma la Spagna non era cattolica? by Peter Marcias.

Seems this change cannot be achieved even with the first transgendered Member of Parlament, Vladimir Luxuria, elected with a Majority that based their campaign on equal rights for partners, but still hasn't ruled to guarantee them.

All of this is told in the interesting documentary L'eletta. Four films, Four stories, full of history and politics, or full of social matters, where a complex reality, culturaly and ethnicaly diverse is shown: like in Cover boy by Carmine Amoroso, where the main character is a Rumenian guy who finds it difficult to find his place in Italy.
